He started with good news He found a $100
-orlando wilson
Then it turned out it was fake He got to school on time But lost his books
He finally got a car
But then it gets towed because it was parked by a hydrant
An apple falls from the tree and it misses his head,
he smiles And then trips over the root and busts his lip
So he just lays there
Do I get up and continue?
Or do I lay here and give up? How can you appreciate good if bad never happens after and how do you know what good is if bad doesn’t happen?
In this life sometimes you may feel like you're drowning in a sea of misfortune and strife. It seems to come from every direction at the most inopportune time. What do you do when you feel like the world is specifically targeting you, singling you out of the billions of people on the planet to spit in your cereal right when you're about to take your first bite? When you have fallen and the world sticks out its hand to help and then just as fast retracts it so you fall back on your ass. Now I'll be honest, when Robin Williams said "All it takes is a beautiful fake smile to hide an injured soul and they will never really notice how broken you are", that slapped me in the face with a sad realization, how many are in pain and are struggling with this thing that they feel they have to battle on their own? They think they are left out to sea with nobody to throw them a life vest. So, they drown silently and alone. "ALONE". Billions of people on the planet and people smile and struggle alone, and eventually die alone, when their pain is shared and that shared pain would have been shared, it could have turned into love and understanding... Another one of my favorite actors in the world who also spent his time making people laugh and loved as passionately as he was hurting on the inside said "the effect you have on people is the most valuable currency"- Jim Carrey. Really let that soak into your brain, these two men who spent their whole lives making people laugh, but suffered horribly on the inside. But kept to their convictions that is better to give happiness to others than to ask for help in fixing themselves. We as people can't continue to live this way, we need to question, we need to strive to be there, to be less selfish and more there for our fellow men and women. And we need to be more open in the sharing of feelings and emotions. It's ok to feel and it's ok to accept help from each other. "Pride cometh before the fall". There are too many people on earth for people to feel alone. So, today ask someone if they are ok, ask someone how is their day going, and offer nothing of your own. Just listen... And if you are drowning, please ask for a lifejacket. Nobody will judge you...
